Join us in our natural build roundhouse
Experience the beauty of a traditional building whilst you learn basket making in harmony with nature when you join us for our workshops in our self-built, eco-friendly roundhouse.
Nestled in the heart of Co. Roscommon, Ireland, our roundhouse is constructed using sustainable materials sourced from the local area. The timber frame came from the forestry next to us, and the outside cladding is a waste product from nearby timber mills. The roof is a self-supporting reciprocal style and the inside walls are cobbed using ancient techniques. The cob is made from a mix of clay, sand, straw, and water all sourced from our land.
We also have a compost toilet outside the workshop that uses sawdust to break down waste in a natural and odorless way. In the roundhouse, we use sustainable energy sources such as solar power.
We also teach at a number of other sites and learning centers. Please see our events we are attending page for more on these.
